My Songs.

When asked to select a handful of songs by which to demonstrate ones style, if in a band it's easy. But as a writer / composer, writing for others, one has to accommodate all manner of styles, and that requires a different approach.

Hence probably best if I give a brief description as to why a song is presented as it is.

1. Ti Amo Mamma (I Love You Mum), is a universal sentiment. Hence, whilst performed here by Julie Costello, offering  a sensitive vocal, it could just as easily be sung by a rousing Tenor.

2. Sunday Morning is much easier to describe, as it is a psychedelic track taken from my first album 'The Five Day Week Straw People.' It has been used many times over including in the Russian film 'I Am.' The album 'The Five Day Week Straw People' now features in Record Collector 100 Greatest Psychedelic Records.

3. Deep Enough To Drown, as I hope may succeed, is intended as an inspirational track. Telling in a tuneful way, of a person suffering in an abusive relationship and finding a way out.
4. Broken Butterfly. Taken from an album that I recorded in the 70s. A blues influenced track written as a tribue to Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones. Based on an Alexander Pope quote widely used at the time of Brian's death: "Who breaks a butterfly on a wheel?" The inference being that Brian, of a sensitive nature, was crushed by the colossus that he'd helped to create. Whereas all he really wanted to do was to play the blues.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    5. Never Start A Fight In A Redneck Bar. A comedy track. Based (unjustly) on my time in Dallas and Fort Worth.

6. Loneliness Never Lasts In The Movies. The opening track of my romantic stage musical. That focuses on a young girl's heartbreak when attempting to find true love. And who takes solace in old romantic movies. "Why can't it be like that!"

7. The Beautiful Pain of Loving You. Self explanatory.

8. A-Ride-Around-The-Galaxy. A space age electronic melody of movement and exploration.

9. Extra Points. Have you ever listened to people queuing at a supermarket checkout. A comedy track.

10. Kiss Me There. 'A naughty modern day romance.'

11. Strangest Heart. An instrumental that keeps asking the same question with increasing intensity.
